Baptist Academy ,one of Nigeria’s oldest educational institutions, has marked its 170th anniversary with a grand ceremony in honour of its illustrious alumni.
Among the distinguished honourees was Ademola Are, the newly re-elected President of the Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF), who was inducted into the prestigious Order of Excellence for his outstanding contributions to sports development in Nigeria.
The commemorative event, which took place in Lagos was organized by the Board of Trustees, National Executive Council (NEC), and members of the Baptist Academy Old Students Association (BAOSA).

The evening brought together dignitaries, alumni, educators, and sports leaders to celebrate 170 years of academic excellence, character formation, and leadership legacy.
Honourees were selected following a nomination and vetting process that sought to identify alumni who have made exceptional impact in their fields while upholding the school’s values of integrity, excellence, and service.

In his remarks after receiving the award, Are expressed heartfelt appreciation to the organizers and fellow alumni for the honor.
“I can’t thank the committee enough for finding me worthy of this award,” he said. “My classmates and members of BAOSA put in remarkable effort to make this possible.” he stated.
