CGC Volleyball League Final Phase Enters Day 2

Day 2 of the 2025 Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League final phase produced another thrilling round of action on Wednesday in Abuja, with top contenders in both the men’s and women’s categories asserting their strength as the title race tightens.

At the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, defending champions CNS Spikers, Nigeria Customs Service, COAS Spikers, Kano Pillars, NSCDC, and Nigeria Correctional Service recorded commanding victories in the men’s division, while CNS Spikers, COAS Spikers, NAF, Nigeria Customs Service, and Life Camp emerged standout performers among the women.

MEN’S CATEGORY

The reigning champions were ruthless once again, sweeping Kada in straight sets. CNS controlled the tempo throughout, winning 25-20, 25-19, 25-13 to maintain their perfect start to the final phase.

Customs survived a tough opening set but powered through to victory, taking the match 27-25, 25-15, 25-15, showcasing experience and superior firepower.

In one of the day’s most intense clashes, COAS overcame the spirited NAF Rockets with a 25-22, 25-20, 25-21, 25-22 win. NAF fought hard but COAS proved more clinical at key moments.

Kano Pillars extended their impressive form with a dominant 25-16, 29-27, 25-21 win over Police, holding their nerve during a tense second set.

NSCDC continued their strong campaign, overpowering Sunshine Spikers 25-22, 25-20, 25-19 in a disciplined, well-coordinated performance.

Correctional Service bounced back from dropping the third set to seal a tough 25-21, 25-21, 21-25, 26-24 win. UCEM forced a fourth-set battle, but Correctional Service finished stronger.

WOMEN’S CATEGORY

CNS showcased a masterclass in efficiency, brushing aside Anambra Queens 25-12, 25-12, 25-16 to remain top contenders for the women’s crown.

COAS were equally dominant in their fixture, cruising to a 25-13, 25-10, 25-16 victory in a one-sided encounter.

NAF delivered one of the most commanding performances of the day, dispatching Wikki Queens 25-11, 25-16, 25-11 behind sharp serves and fluid transitions.

Customs were in a class of their own, sweeping Kada Emeralds 25-15, 25-6, 25-16 to underline their championship credentials.

The most dramatic match of the day saw Life Camp rally from two sets down to defeat Benue Queens in a pulsating five-set battle.
Benue took the first two sets 27-25, 25-19, but Life Camp stormed back 17-25, 25-27, 17-15 in a gripping decider that had fans on their feet.

With momentum building and margins narrowing, the CGC Premier League final phase is heating up, promising even more intense matchups as teams jostle for supremacy in Abuja.
