The 2025 CGC Volleyball Premier League (Phase 1) lived up to its billing on Day 4 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, with fans treated to a mix of thrilling five-set battles and emphatic sweeps across the men’s and women’s categories.
In the men’s division, CNS recorded a 3-1 victory over UCEM, sealing the contest with 25-20, 21-25, 25-17, 25-23 scorelines. The day’s biggest thriller came from the tie between Kano Pillars and Nigerian Air Force (NAF), where Pillars dug deep to edge a pulsating five-set battle 3-2 (25-23, 21-25, 25-18, 22-25, 15-12).
OVC proved too strong for Nigeria Correctional Service (NCOS), cruising to a 3-0 straight-sets win (25-18, 25-22, 25-22). Defending champions NSCDC Spikers showed character, overturning a one-set deficit to outlast Sunshine Spikers 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 28-26, 25-18). Elsewhere, NCS brushed aside Kada Kings 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-17), while COAS Spikers overpowered Police 3-0 (25-21, 29-27, 25-19).
The women’s matches also produced fireworks. Nigeria Customs Service extended their dominance with a commanding 3-0 win over Kada Emeralds (25-11, 25-17, 25-17), while NAF overpowered Olalomi Spikers in straight sets (26-24, 25-15, 25-15).
CNS women dismantled Anambra Queens 3-0 (25-15, 25-12, 25-14), and Life Camp edged Benue Queens 3-1 (25-16, 25-19, 16-25, 25-20) in a spirited four-set encounter. In the day’s final fixture, COAS Spikers handed Wikki Queens a heavy defeat, cruising to a 3-0 win with set scores of 25-13, 25-9, 25-4.
Day 4 results underline the intensity of the 2025 season, with Kano Pillars vs NAF standing out as the men’s match of the day, while COAS Spikers’ ruthless dismantling of Wikki Queens dominated the women’s highlights.
The league continues with Day 5 fixtures as teams jostle for early advantage in the race for honours.
