The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has described Christmas as a time for deep reflection on the birth of Jesus Christ and His enduring message of love, sacrifice, and hope for humanity.

In a Christmas goodwill message issued on Wednesday,by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, Kalu extended warm greetings to Christians and all Nigerians, urging citizens to use the season to promote love, unity, compassion, and prayers for national peace and progress.

He called on Nigerians to reach out to the needy and celebrate with one another, noting that the true essence of Christmas lies in selflessness and shared humanity.

“As we celebrate Christmas, Nigerians should show love to the less privileged, reflecting the compassion and generosity exemplified by Jesus Christ,” the Deputy Speaker said.

He emphasized that the season offers an opportunity for national renewal, stressing that unity and collective responsibility are critical to building a more inclusive and prosperous nation.

“Christmas should inspire peace, hope, and a renewed commitment to a better Nigeria. Our resilience as a people has helped us overcome challenges, and together we can build a country where justice, opportunity, and prosperity are accessible to all,” Kalu stated.

The Deputy Speaker further urged citizens to continue praying for peace, unity, and stability across the country, expressing confidence that Nigeria’s future remains bright.

He wished Christians and all Nigerians a joyful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year in 2026.
