Day 6 of the 2025 Controller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League delivered a blend of five-set thrillers, clean sweeps, and statement victories as the first phase of the competition intensified in Abuja.
In the men’s division, Sunshine Spikers came from behind to stun Kano Pillars 3-1. After dropping the first set 21-25, Sunshine rallied to claim the next three (25-23, 25-19, 25-16). CNS Spikers dominated Nigeria Police with a straight-sets 3-0 win (25-15, 25-22, 25-19).
The standout battle came between UCEM and NSCDC, a five-set classic. NSCDC drew first blood 25-22 before UCEM leveled 25-20. After NSCDC regained control 25-16, UCEM fought back 25-17 and edged the decider 16-14 for a memorable 3-2 triumph.
Elsewhere, COAS Spikers outclassed Nigeria Air Force 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-20), while Nigeria Customs overcame Offa VC in another marathon, eventually sealing a 3-2 victory (25-22, 26-28, 25-20, 18-25, 15-7). NCoS wrapped up men’s action with a commanding 3-0 sweep of Kada Kings (25-16, 25-18, 25-23).
In the women’s fixtures, Anambra Queens overcame Wikki Spikers 3-1 (25-18, 27-25, 23-25, 25-19). NSCDC extended their strong run with a 3-1 victory over CNS Spikers (25-21, 25-22, 26-28, 25-19).
Benue Queens also impressed, defeating Olalomi 3-1 (25-16, 25-19, 12-25, 25-17). NAF Rockets silenced LifeCamp in straight sets (25-18, 30-28, 25-21), while COAS Spikers produced the most dominant display of the day, thrashing Kada Queens 3-0 (26-24, 25-14, 25-9).
With the results, the CGC Volleyball Premier League continues to showcase the depth of talent in Nigerian volleyball, keeping fans on the edge of their seats as the Abuja phase gathers momentum.
