The Director General National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Professor Abubakar Sulaiman has described as disheartening the boat Mishap that claimed the lives of twenty seven (27) traders returning from Niger market en route Kaima local government area of Kwara state.
He spoke in a statement on Sunday issued on Sunday by his media aide, Mohammad Abdulkadri.
Professor Sulaiman conveys his sincere heartfelt condolences to the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazak, the Chairman Kaima Local Government, Abdullah Danladi and the Emir of Kaima, Muazu Umar as well as the bereaved families.
He calls for strict enforcement of water travel safety mechanism to stop over emboarding of passengers and end forthwith night sailing.
Professor Sulaiman points that the frequency of boat accidents have assumed a worrisome dimension for all Kwarans.
The former Minister of National Planning recalls that barely seven months ago about one hundred Kwarans lost their lives in Gbajibo of Kaima local government area.
He prays for the repose of the souls of the victims of the capsized boat in the ill-fated last Friday incident and fortitude for the families to bear the losses.
