The Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, has congratulated the former Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem on the occasion of his 78th birthday.

Professor Sulaiman’s message of felicitation was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Media Adviser, Mohammad Abdulkadri.

The NILDS DG described Professor Abdulraheem, popularly known as the Taliban of Ilorin Emirate, as a scholar of exceptional intellect and an exemplary academic whose wealth of knowledge continues to inspire generations of Nigerians.

He lauded the celebrant’s outstanding contributions to education and national development, noting that his tenure as Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin from 1996 to 2001, as well as his service as Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University, Dutse, left indelible marks on Nigeria’s academic landscape.

Professor Sulaiman also acknowledged Abdulraheem’s leadership roles in various professional and academic bodies, describing him as a “father-figure academic and respected politician who remains a beacon of hope and visionary leadership in building a greater Kwara and promoting Pan-Nigerian ideals.”

He prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the elder statesman, wishing him good health, wisdom, and long life, so that more people can continue to benefit from his experience and guidance.
