The Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, has commended the appointment of his Special Assistant on Politics (SAPOL), Abdulrasaq Owolabi-Wopa, as the new Chairman of Kwara United Queens.

Professor Sulaiman described the appointment as “a round peg in a round hole,” noting that the decision reflects a strategic choice of an accomplished sports administrator, tactician and football enthusiast whose expertise will positively impact the team’s performance at both local and international levels.

The commendation was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, by his Media Aide, Mohammad Abdulkadri.

The NILDS Director-General expressed gratitude to the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for what he described as a well-deserved appointment, while expressing confidence that Wopa would justify the trust and confidence reposed in him.

Professor Sulaiman noted that the new Chairman, who is also a respected member of the National Executive of the Federation of the Aquatic/Swimming Association, brings decades of administrative and practical experience in sports development, including active involvement in the sponsorship of annual football tournaments.

He expressed optimism that Wopa’s wealth of experience would be instrumental in repositioning Kwara United Queens for greater success and sustained excellence.

While wishing the new Chairman and other members of the management team success in their new assignments, the former Minister of National Planning urged them to promote discipline, dedication, coordination and cooperation within the team to enable the Queens excel in upcoming competitions.
