The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, has called on Muslims to imbibe the virtues of Prophet Muhammad as they commemorate his birth, the Mawlid Nabiy, which falls on 1447AH in the Islamic calendar.
In a statement issued on Friday, by his Media Adviser, Mohammad Abdulkadri, Professor Sulaiman described the Prophet as an embodiment of exemplary character worthy of emulation by all, irrespective of religious background.
He urged the Muslim Ummah to adopt the Prophet’s values of honesty, perseverance, tolerance, patience, and respect for constituted authority, noting that such qualities are essential for building a stronger and more peaceful nation.
“Muslims must also be their brother’s keeper by showing genuine kindness, good neighbourliness, and strengthening bonds of fellowship in their daily interactions,” the NILDS DG stated.
Professor Sulaiman further expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for granting Muslims the opportunity to witness this year’s celebration and called for special prayers for leaders at all levels of government. He also urged prayers for peace, particularly in communities affected by insurgency and banditry.
