The Edo State Police Command has warned residents against participating in any protest that could lead to violence or disrupt public peace in the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, following reports from residents about online posts calling for public protests.
The Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, acknowledged citizens’ right to peaceful protest but urged those with grievances to use lawful channels to seek redress.
He warned that the police would not tolerate violence, destruction of property, obstruction of public roads or any action capable of threatening public safety.
The Command assured residents that it was putting adequate security measures in place to protect lives and property.
