Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Enabulele, has commended the resilience and determination of Team Edo at the ongoing 9th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State, reaffirming the government’s commitment to nurturing young sporting talents.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Games on Friday, Enabulele noted that the state’s contingent, made up of over 280 athletes, coaches, and officials, is well-prepared to compete across various disciplines. He stressed that the focus of Edo State’s participation goes beyond chasing medals, but also on giving young athletes the platform to showcase their skills and grow in confidence.

“This championship is not a do-or-die affair. We believe in the process of talent development, and that is why our athletes are under no pressure to achieve podium finishes at all costs,” he said. He further expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for providing an enabling environment and sustained support for sports development across the state.

Edo State, which finished third overall in the previous edition of the National Youth Games, is looking to build on that performance this year. Enabulele emphasized that the state’s long-term vision is to harness the abundant potential of young athletes and prepare them for future national and international competitions.
