The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Christopher Enweremadu, a former Abia State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, wanted over allegations of criminal conspiracy, diversion of public funds, and money laundering.
In a notice signed by its Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, on Wednesday, the anti-graft agency called on Nigerians with credible information about Enweremadu’s whereabouts to contact any of its offices nationwide.
Enweremadu, who served in the administration of former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, has previously been linked to investigations concerning the management of funds allocated to local government councils in Abia.
The EFCC emphasized that the case underscores its renewed drive to hold public officials accountable for alleged mismanagement of public resources. “Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices,” the statement read.
