The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (CPWB) has concluded a comprehensive screening exercise for more than 250 intending Christian pilgrims preparing for the 2025 holy pilgrimage to Israel.

Held in Abuja, the screening marks a key milestone in preparations for the sacred journey, aimed at ensuring that all participants meet the required spiritual, health, and administrative standards.

Director of the FCT CPWB, Gloria Dandam, noted that the exercise is critical for verifying applicants’ eligibility, promoting unity and discipline, and upholding moral values among the pilgrims.

A Press Statement signed by Philip Lucy, Public Relations Officer FCT Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board quoted Dandam as saying: “The screening is to ascertain the health status of intending pilgrims, verify documents, and conduct faith-based assessments,”.

She added that the process also prepares participants for a smooth and spiritually fulfilling experience.

Dandam extended appreciation to the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of State, Mariya Mahmoud, for their consistent support in creating an environment that supports the growth of Christian pilgrimage activities in the territory.

The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), Bishop Stephen Adegbite, represented by Mr. Femi Adetunji, Head of Special Duties, emphasized the importance of the pilgrimage. He called on the pilgrims to uphold Nigeria’s image by adhering to the cultural norms and values of the host country.

Many of the intending pilgrims expressed joy and spiritual anticipation for the journey. “This pilgrimage will transform us spiritually and reinforce our conviction,” said Mrs. Elizabeth Babatunde, on his part, Mr. Steven Agbo said, “What we read in the scriptures will be seen physically, and it will increase our faith.”

The FCT CPWB, in collaboration with the NCPC, reiterated its commitment to organizing a successful and spiritually enriching experience for all qualified participants.
