The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has stepped up security across Abuja, deploying heavy patrols and operational assets to deter crime and reassure residents.

As part of the intensified security measures, the Command on Tuesday conducted a confidence-building patrol across major commercial, residential, and transit areas within the metropolis.

A statement by the command PRO, Josephine Adeh said the operation, aimed at preventing criminal activity and ensuring public safety, covered strategic locations including Wuse Market, Garki Area 10, Area 1, Garki Modern Market, Durumi, Berger, Maitama, and Mabushi.

The patrol, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Isyaku Sharu, featured visible deployment of officers and equipment to identified flashpoints and high-traffic areas.

Police authorities said the exercise aligns with broader security efforts ahead of the festivities and follows a recent joint patrol by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, and his Kaduna State counterpart along the Jere–Abuja Highway, reinforcing collaboration to secure key entry routes into the capital.

The FCT Police Command assured residents and visitors of sustained, proactive security throughout the festive period, while urging the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring a safe and peaceful festive season across the FCT.
