The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Miller Dantawaye, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ushafa Division over alleged unprofessional conduct.

This follows the circulation of a viral video on X (formerly Twitter) showing the DPO slapping a young man on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

In a statement issued on Wednesday night by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, the Commissioner condemned the officer’s actions.

He described them as “unacceptable and inconsistent with the discipline, civility, and professionalism expected of officers under the command.”

CP Dantawaye stated that the redeployment takes immediate effect, adding that an investigation into the incident has commenced.

“Such behaviour will not be tolerated under my leadership. Any act of misconduct or abuse of power will attract severe sanctions,” he warned.

The Commissioner also reminded all Divisional Police Officers and their subordinates to remain professional, courteous, and law-abiding while carrying out their duties.

He urged members of the public to maintain mutual respect and cooperation with the police to strengthen community policing and public safety across the FCT.
