The Federal Capital Territory Administration has unveiled plans to expand water supply infrastructure to satellite towns around Abuja, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inclusive development agenda.
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, made this known during an inspection tour of key projects in the capital on Friday, ahead of the President’s second-year anniversary.
Wike said the Administration has made adequate budgetary provisions for the water project, which is aimed at enhancing water distribution in Abuja and surrounding Area Councils.
He revealed that the initiative follows his recent visit to China, where investment-focused talks built on earlier agreements signed during President Tinubu’s state visit.
On infrastructure updates, the Minister highlighted major projects such as the renovation of the Abuja International Conference Centre and the construction of Arterial Road N5 from Lifecamp Junction to Ring Road III, both scheduled for commissioning during the anniversary celebrations.
While commending Julius Berger for maintaining quality and speed in execution, Wike also emphasised the Administration’s investment in education and healthcare, stating that 85 percent of the proposed N1.7 trillion 2025 FCT budget is directed toward completing ongoing infrastructure projects.
He noted that the education sector, will receive a capital injection of N140 billion for school renovations and upgrades, while significant investments are also being channeled into health facilities.
“We are not starting new projects. Our priority is to complete ongoing ones so that residents can benefit from tangible outcomes,” the Minister maintained.
