Former President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has made history once again, becoming first African leader to receive the prestigious 2025 Sunhak Peace Founder’s Prize.

The Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, in a congratulatory message, describes the award as a fitting recognition of Jonathan’s unwavering commitment to peace and democratic governance.

In a statement by the Media Adviser to the DG NILDS, Mohammad Abdulkadri, Prof Sulaiman says  “This peace award, for an epitome of peace, is well-merited when situated within the compass of your proven visionary and inspirational leadership, to which I personally attest as a former Minister under your presidency.”

According to him, the global recognition is an eloquent testimony to Dr. Jonathan’s unblemished integrity and his role as a beacon of democratic values both at home and abroad.

Speaking on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, and Staff of NILDS, the DG said, “This historic moment adds yet another feather to your excellency’s already decorated cap of honours.”
