The stage is set for a new era in football development as organizers of the Future Pro League International officially announce the selection process and tournament format for its inaugural season, which is set to kick off in grand style.
The competition, designed as a multi-phase qualifier, aims to identify and promote top football talents while providing fans with an engaging and professional football experience. According to the organizers, the entire process will test not only individual player skill and team synergy but also audience engagement, culminating in the birth of six new elite teams.
The journey begins on July 26, 2025, with the first phase of tryouts featuring 20 teams, each made up of 11 players. In a knockout-style format, teams will face off in direct elimination matches: Team A vs Team B, Team C vs Team D, and so on. The 10 winning teams from this round will automatically progress to the next stage.

However, all is not lost for the losing sides. These 10 teams will get a second chance during the Wildcard Round scheduled for August 2, 2025. Here, the losing teams will be paired to compete again, with five winning teams earning a spot in the next stage. To round it out to 16 teams, the best-performing losing side will also be added based on performance metrics.
The second phase of the competition will shift into a full tournament format. The 16 qualified teams will be divided into four groups of four. Each team will play three matches within its group. The top two teams from each group will then move on to the quarterfinal knockout stage.
From there, four winners will automatically qualify for the Future Pro League International. The remaining four losing teams will compete in a playoff to determine the final two entrants, bringing the total to six official league teams.
Each of the six teams will be fully branded and equipped with official jerseys, names, squad numbers, and team identities. A dedicated website will also be launched to support the league, allowing fans to view team rosters, player bios (including names, dates of birth, nationalities, and stats), and live season statistics such as top scorers and assists.
“We are not just creating a pathway for players to turn professional,” said a league spokesperson. “We are building an ecosystem where football talent can shine, and fans can experience the thrill of the sport just like in any top-tier league around the world.”
This initiative marks a major milestone in youth football development and digital fan engagement, aiming to bridge the gap between raw talent and professional excellence. With the roadmap now clear, all eyes are on the kickoff of what promises to be a historic competition.
