High Level Meeting Between EU and Nigeria Set to Hold in Abuja

A high level meeting between Senior Officials of Nigeria and the European Union (EU) is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd July in Abuja.

According to a statement signed by the spokesperson Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the high-level meeting is convened in preparation for the upcoming Nigeria–EU Ministerial Meeting and aims to strengthen dialogue and cooperation across a broad spectrum of shared interests.

The statement added that the meeting will be co-chaired by the Director of the Regions Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria, Ambassador Janet Olisa and Deputy Managing Director for the Africa Department, European External Action Service, European Union, Mathieu Briens.

The agenda of the meeting is expected to feature wide-ranging discussions on critical areas of the Nigeria–EU partnership, including, Cooperation on Multilateral and Regional Issues, Peace, Security, and Governance, Humanitarian Situation, Trade and Investment, Migration amongst others.

The statement also states that Nigeria and the European Union share a deep and enduring partnership rooted in mutual values, shared strategic interests, and a common commitment to multilateralism and a rules-based international order.
