The House of Representatives has directed that four major tax reform laws passed in 2025 be re-gazetted.
This became necessary following public concerns over how the bills were processed, assented to, and published.
The affected laws are the Nigeria Tax Act, 2025; Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025; Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2025; and the Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025.
In a statement on Friday, House Spokesman and Chairman of the Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Akin Rotimi, says the move followed questions raised about the harmonisation of versions passed by both chambers, documents sent for presidential assent, and the copies published in the Federal Government Gazette.
The House confirmed that a seven-member ad hoc committee is reviewing the matter, alongside relevant committees and the National Assembly management.
The review will examine the sequence of events and any possible administrative lapses, in line with the Constitution and parliamentary rules.
The National Assembly leadership has also directed the Clerk to re-gazette the laws and issue Certified True Copies of the versions duly passed by both chambers.
The House stressed that the step is administrative, not an admission of wrongdoing, and urged the public to allow due process to run its course.
