Civil Rights Advocacy Group: Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has commended the Anambra State governor Professor Charles Soludo over what it described as “the meritorious appointment” of a top brass Abuja based journalist and a clinical psychologist Dr. Law Mefor as Anambra State Commissioner for Information.

Mefor’s appointment followed the sack of the former commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu by the governor over alleged non performance.

The Rights group stated that the decision by the Anambra State House of Assembly to rapidly approve the nomination of Dr. Mefor as the information information in Anambra State is the correct decision because according to it, the new appointee has what it takes to turn around the dwindling public image of the administration of Governor Soludo.

In a media statement by the National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, HURIWA stated that Dr. Mefor would bring to bear his longstanding unquestionable and competent management of information, adding that the new Commissioner for information in Anambra State is one of the few original thinkers and reputable media strategists around in Nigeria.

Onwubiko also emphasised that knowing Dr. Mefor for well over two decades as a publisher, media manager, clinical psychologist, human rights activist and Igbo patriot, the Ministry of information in Anambra State is in good hand.

The Rights group appealed to professional colleagues in the media industry to partner effectively with the new Commissioner of information in Anambra State so as to serve the good people of Anambra State.
