Iran has threatened to attack northern Israel if Beirut is hit by Israeli strikes.
Iran’s central military command has warned residents in the area to leave to avoid being harmed in the event that Israel carries out its planned attacks in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
Israel’s prime minister revealed this morning that he had ordered fresh strikes against Lebanon’s capital (see our 08:07 post).
The Israeli military subsequently issued an evacuation order for residents of Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The threat came as an adviser to Iran’s supreme leader posted on social media that Iran would not tolerate an escalation in Lebanon and that the patience of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran has its limits.
Mohsen Rezaei also insisted that the Strait of Hormuz was under Iran’s management and that the country wouldn’t allow the blockade to continue.
