The Abuja All Stars Veterans Invitational Tournament has reached a fever pitch as Karu All Stars, Gwagwalada All Stars, Likeminds All Stars of Kuje, and Apo Fitness Club sealed their spots in the quarter-finals, joining four other elite sides in the capital’s most competitive veterans’ football showcase.
The Round of 16 delivered a mix of tactical duels, standout individual performances, and unwavering grit. Karu All Stars overcame a spirited MC Steve side 2-1 in a tense contest. Despite MC Steve’s aggressive start, Karu’s experience and precision in front of goal proved decisive.
Apo Fitness Club also claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win over Nurudeen FC. After an early lead, Apo’s defence held firm under intense late pressure to secure passage to the last eight.
In Gwagwalada, the home side triumphed in a dramatic penalty shootout, defeating Zeemichael FC 3-0 after a 1-1 draw in regulation time. Zeemichael, a four-month-old side, impressed with their resilience but fell short in the spot kicks.
Likeminds All Stars of Kuje produced the most dominant display, thrashing Games Village FC 4-0 with a blend of sharp tactical play and clinical finishing, underscoring their credentials as title favourites.
