The stage is set for the maiden edition of the Kingdom Unity Games 2025, an event designed to unite communities, empower youths, and promote peace through sports.

At a press briefing in Abuja, the convener and President of Kingdom Stars IV International Foundation, Ambassador Solomon Omonokhua, announced that the competition will begin today (Saturday), with the opening ceremony scheduled to start at 2 p.m., followed by the official kick-off at 3 p.m.

“Our mandate is to discover young talents across churches and communities, connect them with academies, and give them opportunities to grow both in sports and in life. Sports is one of the most effective tools to take youths off the streets, reduce insecurity, and promote unity,” Omonokhua said.

The Unity Games will feature three major sports—football, basketball, and volleyball—with 16 football teams, 8 basketball teams, and 8 volleyball teams competing in a direct knockout format over one week. Winners will walk away with cash prizes for first, second, and third positions.

The event has attracted strong support from government, military, sports leaders, and faith-based communities. Among the high-profile dignitaries such as renowned football coach and ex Super Eagle, Samson Siasia and the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Omonokhua explained that while this year’s edition will serve as an FCT-based pilot, plans are underway to expand it into a national sporting festival in 2026.

“We are using sports as a unifying language to break barriers of religion, ethnicity, and social differences. Our goal is to create pathways for young talents while fostering peace and national development,” he emphasized.

The Kingdom Unity Games 2025 promises not only thrilling sports action but also a platform for talent discovery, mentorship, and international exposure, with scouts expected to offer opportunities for outstanding players to join clubs abroad.

With excitement building and the backing of some of the country’s most influential figures, the competition is poised to make history as a grassroots-driven project with a national vision.
