As preparations gather momentum for the maiden edition of the Kingdom Unity Games Abuja (KUGA) 2025, organizers have announced Engineer Ciroma Joseph as the official Ambassador of the Games.

The event, scheduled to hold from September 6 to 13, 2025 at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, is a faith-driven sporting initiative designed to unite youths across Abuja and neighboring states through competitive sports. With a focus on peacebuilding, discipline, spiritual growth, and youth development, the Games will feature football, basketball, and volleyball tournaments involving male and female teams drawn largely from church communities across five Christian bloc, but open to all.

Speaking during the official unveiling ceremony in Abuja, Engr. Joseph expressed gratitude for the appointment, describing it as a platform to promote unity and social development through sports.

“I’m truly honored to be associated with the 2025 Kingdom Unity Games. Although my professional background is in engineering and the power sector, I have always championed unity, peace, and youth empowerment. Sports is one of the strongest tools to achieve these goals, as it transcends religion, tribe, and ethnicity.”

A seasoned international chess player and former Secretary of the NEPA Chess Association, Engr. Joseph highlighted his past experiences organizing chess tournaments within the power sector, which successfully brought people together across divides. He emphasized that the Unity Games would similarly provide youths with a platform for discipline, self-expression, and purposeful engagement in a digital-driven era.

As Games Ambassador, he extended an open invitation to residents of Abuja and neighboring states—including Nasarawa, Niger, and Kogi—to participate and support the historic first edition.

“This is not just about sports, it’s about shaping the future of our youth. I call on leaders, elders, religious groups, and communities to join hands in making KUGA 2025 a success. The way we start this maiden edition will set the tone for the Games’ legacy.”

Engr. Joseph also underscored the crucial role of government in ensuring the success of initiatives like KUGA.

“Large-scale projects of this kind require strong support in terms of security, logistics, infrastructure, and funding. I commend the administration for its ongoing investment in sports development and urge continuous partnership to make platforms like KUGA sustainable. Sports remain a potent antidote to insecurity and youth restiveness.”

Also speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Solomon Omonokhua, Convener of KUGA 2025 and representative of the Kingdom Star Sports International Foundation, described the Games as a groundbreaking initiative for talent discovery and youth empowerment.

“Our mission is to provide a platform where young, gifted athletes—many of whom might have gone unnoticed—can showcase their skills. Through this exposure, we hope to connect them to local and international talent scouts and nurture them into future professionals.”

Omonokhua further stressed the inclusive and interfaith nature of the Games.

“Though KUGA originates from the Christian community, it is open to all—Christians, Muslims, and others alike. It is a platform for national unity, peace, and collective growth through sports.”

The 2025 Games line-up will feature:

Football: 24 male teams from five Christian blocs

Basketball: 16 male and female teams

Volleyball: 16 male and female teams

Organized in collaboration with Celebrity Sports Magazine, KUGA 2025 seeks to blend faith, fun, and future-building, ensuring that sports remain a unifying force in the nation.

Ambassador Omonokhua reaffirmed the commitment of the organizing team to deliver a world-class sporting experience that not only entertains but also empowers youth and strengthens the fabric of national unity.
