Legacy Football Club emerged winner at the grand finale of the Amana Football Championship in Ilorin, defeating Eagles Star by 3-1 to claim the coveted title.
The two-month-long competition featured 16 football clubs, with the final match drawing a large crowd of sports enthusiasts.
Special guest of honor, Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, commended the efforts of the participating teams and expressed his commitment to making the championship an annual event to foster youth engagement through sports.
“This competition showcases the talent and potential within our communities. I am dedicated to supporting initiatives that promote sports and create opportunities for young people,” Professor Sulaiman said.
He also praised Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the significant progress in upgrading sports facilities at the stadium complex. “The governor’s investments in sports infrastructure are inspiring, and I pledge to build on these efforts to advance various sporting activities,” he added.
Representing the governor, the Executive Chairman of the Sports Commission, Bola Magaji, applauded Professor Sulaiman for his unwavering commitment to football and grassroots sports development.
The championship not only celebrated athletic excellence but also underscored the importance of investing in youth and community development through sports.
