Makinde’s Aides Resigns Over ‘Unconducive’ Work Environment

The Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, has resigned, citing an unconducive working environment in the state government.

Oyeleke, a former two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and local government chairman, said he was no longer comfortable with the working environment, which he believed hindered his ability to pursue and fulfil the aspirations of his people.

In his resignation letter, dated November 3, 2026, he described the environment as unconducive to effectively carrying out his responsibilities.

He, however, thanked Makinde for his leadership, encouragement and support, as well as the opportunity to contribute to the administration’s policies and development programmes.

Similarly, a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, Sunday Olugbenga Falana, has also resigned his appointment.

Falana, who hails from Ogbomoso, submitted his resignation in a letter addressed to the governor through the Chief of Staff.

He thanked Makinde for the opportunity to serve on the state’s electoral management body, describing his experience as worthwhile. However, he did not state why he was leaving the commission.

Their resignations came minutes after the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, also resigned.

The development follows the earlier resignation of the governor’s Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, alongside other aides.

The wave of departures comes amid emerging political realignments in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
