Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) Professor Abubakar Sulaiman has reaffirmed commitment to strengthening parliamentary Institutions in Africa to meet the complex evolving challenges of governance in the 21st century.

A statement signed by Mohammad Abdulkadri, Media Adviser to the DG, quoted him as making the commitment on Tuesday at NILDS Headquarters during the opening ceremony of the week-long capacity building programme for members of the Parliament and parliamentary staff of Malawi themed “Repositioning Parliamentary Administration in a Changing Global Environment”

He said the training is designed to enhance the Institutional effectiveness of the Parliament of Malawi.

The Director General who called on the government of Malawi to accelerate efforts to have an embassy in Nigeria just as Nigeria has a High Commission in Malawi said their presence and participation in the capacity training is a testament to the robust diplomatic ties between the two countries dating back to 1964 when she joined the Common Wealth Nations

NILDS DG, Professor Abubakar Sulaiman Hosts Malawian Parliamentarians for Capacity Building in Abuja

The Deputy Speaker of the Malawian Parliament Hon. Kwaderanji Kazombo who led the trainees appreciated the Director General of NILDS, Professor Sulaiman for providing topnotch resource persons for the capacity building towards making the training a worthwhile experience.
