The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a stern warning to night club operators and fun seekers over the rising trend of organizing and attending drug parties, describing the act as a blatant illegality under Nigerian law.

The warning on Tuesday followed a weekend raid by NDLEA operatives at Proxy Night Club, located on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The operation, which took place between Saturday night, October 25, and the early hours of Sunday, October 26, 2025, led to the arrest of over 100 attendees, including the club owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu (popularly known as Pretty Mike) and his manager, Joachin Millary.

According to the agency’s Spokesperson, Femi Bbabfemi, the gatherings organized for the purpose of consuming, distributing, or abusing illicit substances constitute criminal acts under the NDLEA Act.

“These drug parties not only fuel the drug scourge but also serve as recruitment grounds for addiction, undermining national efforts to safeguard public health and security,” the statement said.

The NDLEA disclosed that its operatives conducted weeks of undercover surveillance before the raid. Agents reportedly observed drug transactions and abuse during the party, before disrupting the event and making arrests.

The Agency said all attendees were later profiled, counselled, and released, in line with global best practices, while Pretty Mike and his manager remain in custody.

The operation also led to the seizure of 384.88 kilograms of Canadian Loud (a potent strain of cannabis) and other substances from the club’s store.

The agency warned that property owners, hotel operators, and event venue managers who knowingly host drug-related activities risk confiscation and forfeiture of their assets to the Federal Government.

“Those in custody will face prosecution, while we will file for the forfeiture of Proxy Night Club where the drugs were found,” the agency added.

The NDLEA urged Nigerians, especially parents, religious and community leaders, to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to help combat the growing threat of drug abuse in the country.
