The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE Internal), 54 days after the last paper was written, showing a significant decline in examination malpractice cases compared to 2024.
Announcing the results at a press conference in Minna, Niger State, on Wednesday, NECO Registrar, Prof. Ibrahim Wushishi, said a total of 1,358,339 candidates sat for the June/July examination out of the 1,367,210 registered. He noted that 818,492 candidates, representing 60.26 per cent, secured five credits and above including Mathematics and English Language.
According to him, 1,144,496 candidates, representing 84.26 per cent, obtained five credits and above irrespective of Mathematics and English.
Prof. Wushishi disclosed that of those who sat for the exam, 680,292 were male while 678,047 were female.
On malpractice, the registrar revealed that 3,878 candidates were involved in various forms of malpractice in 2025, compared to 10,094 in 2024 — representing a sharp reduction of 61.58 per cent.
Wushishi attributed the decline to NECO’s strengthened monitoring systems and measures aimed at curbing sharp practices during the conduct of its examinations.
