Nigeria Dominate Day 2 at CAVB U-18 Beach Volleyball Championship

Nigeria’s dominance at the 2025 CAVB U18 Beach Volleyball Continental Championship continued on Day 2, as the host nation’s girls’ teams recorded emphatic victories to remain strong contenders for the title.

On Monday, August 4, Nigeria I, Nigeria II, and Nigeria III secured straight-set wins in their respective matches. Nigeria I overpowered Algeria II with a commanding 2-0 (21-13, 21-9) triumph, dictating play from start to finish.

Nigeria II showed class with a 21-12, 21-14 victory over Burundi II, while Nigeria III outclassed Gambia 21-11, 21-14 to seal a perfect day for the host country.

Head Coach Kayode Ajilore expressed confidence in his team’s prospects.

“We are currently topping our pool, and the girls are determined to make the country proud at the end of the tournament. Our next target is Cote d’Ivoire tomorrow, and we are confident of another win,” he said.

The tournament also saw Egypt I continue their impressive run with a 2-0 (21-18, 21-17) win over Morocco II, while Egypt II defeated Morocco I by the same margin. Senegal pulled off a stunning comeback against Morocco II, rallying from a set down to win 2-1 in a thriller.

Other highlights included Burundi I’s three-set triumph over Ivory Coast (21-16, 16-21, 15-7) and Morocco I’s dominant 2-0 sweep of Benin Republic (21-6, 21-5). Gambia I also impressed, beating Zambia I in straight sets.
