The Nigeria Labour Congress NLC has reiterated its initial call for a
nationwide strike if it’s President, Comrade Joe Ajaero is detained by police on the basis of what it described as trumped up charges of terrorism financing, cybercrime and other allegations levelled against him.

This is contained in a circular issued by the General Secretary of NLC,
Emmanuel Ugboaja, mobilizing members for a solidarity march with the
NLC President following his invitation by the police for questioning.
The circular says all NLC affiliates and state councils are being mobilized in Abuja and across the states to show solidarity on Thursday August 29 when Ajaero is expected to appear before the Intelligence Response Team of the police in Guzape, Abuja.

Details of the circular which was made available to newsmen, shows that members of the central working committee resident in Abuja and other members are to assemble at the Headquarters of the NLC by 8:00 AM on Thursday, August 29, to accompany Ajaero to the Police for the scheduled interrogation.

In the State Capitals, members were directed to gather at their respective state secretariats of Congress, from where they will embark on a peaceful procession to their State Police Headquarters, where they will hold a prayer session until the President’s interaction with the Police is concluded.
