Nigeria has named its representatives for the Confederation of African Volleyball Under-18 Youth Beach Volleyball Cup, holding in Banjul, The Gambia.

The country will field two teams — Isaac James and Bobai Andrew in the men’s category, and Pamela Bawa with Ifechukwu Odoh in the women’s division.

Both squads will be led by national coach John Iwerima, during the event which will hold from the 2nd to the 7th of September, 2026.

Coach Iwerima said the players are well-prepared and determined to make the nation proud.

“We have prepared well, and I believe this team has what it takes to win the tournament. Nigeria is going to Banjul to compete, and to come back with the trophy,” he said.

Officials of the Confederation of African Volleyball confirm the Nigerian delegation is expected to arrive in Banjul today, ahead of the championship, which also serves as preparation for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal.

With Nigeria’s rising profile in youth volleyball, expectations are high that the young athletes will contend strongly for honours.
