Nigeria sealed a commanding 36-run win over Sierra Leone in Match 4 of the West Africa Trophy 2025 — a contest that once again lived up to the fierce reputation of the West Africa Derby.

After winning the toss, the hosts set the tone with a vibrant batting display, powering their way to 177/6 at the NCF Pitch. Vincent Adewoye anchored the innings with a composed 49 off 34 balls, while Isaac Okpe ignited the crowd with a blistering 35 from just 15 deliveries, striking at an impressive 233.33.

Their partnership injected momentum and ensured Nigeria posted a challenging total.

Sierra Leone responded with grit, driven by a resilient half-century from John Bangura, who crafted 52 off 51 balls. However, despite his determination, the visitors struggled to break free against Nigeria’s disciplined bowling unit and finished at 141/5 after 20 overs.

Nigeria’s pace sensation Prosper Useni once again emerged as the difference-maker. Delivering fiery spells at crucial moments, he claimed 3/29 in four overs, tightening the screws on Sierra Leone’s chase. His match-winning effort earned him a second consecutive Player of the Match award, underlining his standout form in the tournament.

With this win, Nigeria strengthens its campaign as the West Africa Trophy 2025 gathers momentum in Abuja, showcasing the best of regional cricketing rivalry and talent.
