Nigeria Police, in collaboration with INTERPOL, repatriates high-profile Chinese fugitive to Beijing.

The Nigeria Police Force has repatriated a notorious Chinese fugitive, Dai Qisheng, to Beijing in a landmark operation executed through the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB), Abuja.

A statement on Sunday by the Force says Qisheng, a wanted gang leader from Guizhou Province accused of orchestrating violent organized crimes, fled China in 2024 after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, says Qisheng was tracked and apprehended in Abuja on August 8, 2025, by operatives of INTERPOL NCB Abuja and repatriated to China on August 15 under a coordinated police-to-police framework with INTERPOL NCB Beijing and the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Egbetokun, describes the operation as a “clear message to criminals worldwide” that Nigeria will not serve as a safe haven for fugitives.

He reaffirmes the Force’s commitment to strengthening global security partnerships through intelligence sharing and operational cooperation.

Police authorities says the successful handover underscores Nigeria’s resolve in combating transnational organized crime and highlights the strength of international collaboration in tackling global criminal networks.
