Nigeria’s men’s tennis team will take on Uzbekistan in the 2026 Davis Cup World Group II Playoffs, following confirmation from the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The high-stakes clash is set to hold in Nigeria from 6–8 February 2026, marking a pivotal moment for the country’s return to the global stage.
Team Nigeria earned their playoff spot after an inspired campaign at the Africa Group III tournament in Harare, Zimbabwe, where they secured promotion alongside Namibia and Senegal. The feat underscored the nation’s growing stature in African tennis and rekindled hopes of advancing deeper in world competition.
Their opponents, Uzbekistan, come into the tie as the top seed and currently ranked 49th in the world — a side boasting significant pedigree and experience at this level. While the challenge is formidable, the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) has expressed confidence in the team’s ability to rise to the occasion, backed by home support and the momentum of recent performances.
The February showdown is expected to draw attention across Africa and beyond, as Nigeria looks to script a new chapter in its Davis Cup journey.
