The Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, has congratulated Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, on his turbaning as the second holder of the prestigious traditional title of Sardauna of the Ilorin Emirate.
Sulaiman described the investiture as a historic honour coming at an auspicious time, while commending the governor’s administration for what he called a new dawn in the development of modern Kwara State.
The DG’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Media Adviser, Mohammad Abdulkadri, mnipr.
Sulaiman said the traditional title was a fitting recognition of AbdulRazaq’s contributions to the state, describing him as a performer, bridge builder and passionate respecter of traditional institutions.
“He who the turban of Sardauna fits has been truly honoured with it by the Mai Martaba Sarkin Ilory, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR,” he said.
The NILDS DG, a former Minister of National Planning and community leader in Ilorin, said AbdulRazaq’s investiture was reminiscent of the values represented by his predecessor, the late Alhaji Umaru Saro.
He described the governor as a promoter of peace, a unifying force and a selfless public servant committed to the wellbeing of the people.
Sulaiman prayed for a long reign, renewed strength and greater wisdom for AbdulRazaq as he assumes the traditional role in service to the people of the Ilorin Emirate, Islam and humanity.
The turbaning ceremony formally marks AbdulRazaq’s emergence as the second holder of the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate title.
