The Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) will remain under the stewardship of Engineer Musa Nimrod for another four years.

This follows his emphatic re-election at the federation’s elective congress held inside the Basketball Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

In a unanimous decision that underscored the confidence of stakeholders, Nimrod was returned unopposed, garnering all 16 votes cast in Monday’s elections.

The congress, which brought together delegates and representatives from across the six geopolitical zones, confirmed the continuation of a leadership widely credited with revitalizing volleyball in Nigeria over the last four years.

Alongside Nimrod, other key officials were also elected to form a balanced board expected to drive the federation’s new vision.

Prince Babatunde Omisore emerged as 1st Vice President, while Architect Adamu Tenimu was elected 2nd Vice President.

The zonal representatives elected were:

North East: DCP Stephen Hasso (Rtd)

North West: Engineer Musa Nimrod

North Central: Bolcit Amakiri

South West: Prince Babatunde Omisore

South East: Kingsley Nwosu

South South: Famous Daunemigha

Other categories equally produced representatives, including Dauda Saje as Players’ Representative, Samuel Timothy as Technical Representative, and Comptroller Frank Onyeka as Sponsor Representative.

Speaking moments after his re-election, Nimrod outlined a fresh roadmap, pledging to consolidate previous achievements while introducing innovative programs aimed at cementing Nigeria’s position on the global volleyball stage.

“We are not resting on what we achieved in the past. The next four years are about building a sustainable system,” Nimrod declared. “Our structured pathway for talent development – from Under-15 to senior categories – will be expanded and properly funded to ensure continuity. The goal is clear: to make Nigeria a strong force in world volleyball.”

Nimrod also highlighted plans to strengthen grassroots competitions, enhance mentorship from seasoned coaches, and attract corporate sponsorships to drive the federation’s ambitious programmes.

The NVBF calendar for the coming months reflects the enormity of the task ahead. Nigerian teams will feature in a series of international tournaments, including the Under-21 World Championship in Mexico, the Under-18 Championship in Qatar, the Senior World Volleyball Championship in Australia, the African Youth Games in Angola, and the World Schools Games in China.

According to Nimrod, the new board will hit the ground running once the National Sports Commission formally inaugurates it.

“With the elections concluded, it’s time for action. We have a busy international calendar, and our athletes deserve nothing but the best preparation. The future of Nigerian volleyball is bright, and this board is committed to delivering results,” he assured.
