The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has once again been spotlighted for its pivotal role in fostering national values and strengthening civic education across the country.

The commendation comes as the Centre for Positive Value Reorientation and Advocacy conferred on it the Award of Excellence in Value Reorientation and Nation-Building.

The honour was presented during the public launch of the Centre’s new book, “Paradise at a Crossroads,” held in Ilorin.

Comrade Abdulwaheed Onikanhun, Registrar of Ahman Pategi University and Executive Director of the Centre, made the presentation, praising the Agency’s sustained efforts in reorienting citizens and reinforcing Nigeria’s core moral and patriotic ideals.

According to him, the award reflects the visionary leadership of NOA’s Director-General, Lanre Issa-Onilu, as well as the agency’s crucial role in communicating government policies, promoting responsible citizenship, and safeguarding national values.

“This award is a testament to the unwavering dedication of the entire NOA team,” Onikanhun said. “At a time when societal values are being tested, the Agency has remained a steady beacon, working diligently to lay a solid moral foundation for the nation’s future. Its commitment to civic education and national cohesion is indispensable to our collective progress.”

He added that presenting the award alongside the launch of “Paradise at a Crossroads” was symbolic, as both the book and the Agency’s work contribute to Nigeria’s ongoing national conversation on values and destiny.

Receiving the award, DG Issa-Onilu expressed profound gratitude and dedicated the recognition to NOA staff nationwide, whose grassroots engagement brings the Agency’s message to communities across the country.

“This honour affirms the impact of our strategies for value reorientation and national rebirth—and motivates us to do even more,” he said. “Our mandate is clear: to build a Nigeria where every citizen is informed, patriotic, and committed to integrity, hard work, and unity. We accept this award as a charge to deepen this critical work with renewed zeal.”

The event underscored the centrality of value reorientation to national development, with NOA reiterating its commitment to shaping a more united and morally grounded Nigeria.
