Four teams—Barau FC, Wikki Tourists, Kun Khalifat FC, and Warri Wolves—have secured promotion to the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after a thrilling conclusion to the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 playoffs in Ozoro and Asaba.
Barau FC made history at the Delta State University Stadium in Ozoro, defeating Doma United 2-0 in their final group match. The victory earned the Maliya Boys five points, marking their first-ever promotion to the NPFL and cementing their place among the country’s football elite.
Wikki Tourists also returned to the NPFL in style. The Bauchi-based side, led by veteran coach Abdul Maikaba, cruised past Yobe Desert Stars with a resounding 4-0 win to finish top of the Northern Conference. With five points and a superior +4 goal difference, Wikki makes a comeback after two years away from the top flight.
In the Southern Conference, The Pride of Imo State, Kun Khalifat FC, achieved a historic promotion by overcoming Osun United in the final group clash. Coached by Obinna Uzoho, Kun Khalifat becomes only the fourth privately-owned club to reach the NPFL—a remarkable feat for the young club from the Eastern Heartland.
Meanwhile, at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, Warri Wolves secured their return to the NPFL with a 2-1 comeback victory over Crown FC, topping their group in the Southern Conference.
With these results, Barau FC, Wikki Tourists, Kun Khalifat FC, and Warri Wolves are now officially part of the Nigeria Premier Football League’s 2025/2026 season lineup—bringing fresh narratives, ambition, and a competitive edge to the top-tier league.
