A staff fellowship group within the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) has visited the Kuje Correctional Centre, providing inmates with educational support, welfare items and counselling services .

The outreach, held on Tuesday, comes at a time when concerns persist over inadequate rehabilitation programmes and limited resources for inmates preparing for reintegration into society.

Coordinator of the fellowship, John Oleka, said the visit was organised in partnership with the NSITF to “provide support, hope and rehabilitation resources” to inmates, stressing that meaningful reintegration must begin with access to education, emotional support and basic necessities.

During the programme, the group conducted a worship service, counselling sessions, and distributed food items, toiletries, reading materials and clothing.

They also paid the WAEC examination fees for 20 inmates, an intervention Oleka described as crucial in helping inmates acquire skills needed to rebuild their lives after release.

Addressing inmates during the service, Minister Vincent Obiorah said the message of forgiveness and redemption was central to their spiritual and personal recovery.

He urged them to see their time in custody as a chance for reflection, growth and renewed purpose.

Obiorah added that the NSITF Staff Fellowship was established to promote spiritual development, teamwork and humanitarian service among staff, helping the organisation extend its impact beyond the workplace and into the wider community.
