Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has lauded President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, for the ongoing reconstruction and expansion of the critical Abuja–Lokoja highway.

Speaking during a brief inspection stop at a section of the project site in Koton-Karfe, Governor Ododo described the federal intervention as “timely and commendable,” noting that the highway remains a vital economic and national link between northern and southern Nigeria.

“The Abuja–Lokoja road is not just economically viable; it is nationally essential,” Governor Ododo said. “This reconstruction is a clear reflection of the Renewed Hope Agenda in motion. I thank Mr. President, our father, for his love for the people, especially those of us in Kogi State.”

The Governor also hailed the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, for turning the President’s development vision into tangible progress. He noted that previous administrations had overlooked the strategic importance of the road, sometimes deeming it economically unimportant.

“But today, what is happening here is part of a great coalition — a coalition of development, unity, and progress under Mr. President,” Ododo stated.

Addressing construction workers at the site, he urged them to remain focused and view their efforts as a patriotic service to the nation.

“If I can become Governor, you too can rise in your calling,” he encouraged. “Do not be distracted by selfish and destructive politicians. Your work here is contributing to national development.”

Governor Ododo reaffirmed his unwavering support for the APC-led federal government and called on Nigerians to continue praying for the success of President Tinubu’s administration.

The Abuja–Lokoja road is one of Nigeria’s major transport corridors, connecting the Federal Capital Territory to states in the North Central, South East, and South South regions.
