Yobe Desert Stars Football Club has named Coach Patrick Bassey as the club’s new Technical Adviser ahead of the second stanza of the 2026 Nigeria National League (NNL26) season.

The appointment was confirmed by Mohammed Alkali Achama, Chairman of Yobe Desert Stars FC, who described Bassey’s arrival as a strategic move aimed at strengthening the club’s technical capacity and ensuring the team is fully prepared for the league restart.

Bassey arrives at the Potiskum‑based club with a strong reputation in Nigerian domestic football, having previously served in coaching and leadership roles across the nation’s football pyramid.

A seasoned tactician, he is widely recognised for his discipline‑driven approach and ability to develop young talent.

His tenure at Ranchers Bees FC, where he was unveiled as head coach ahead of the 2025/2026 NNL season, was marked by expectations to guide the club toward promotion before his departure later in the campaign amid challenging working conditions.

In his first remarks following the announcement, Coach Bassey expressed gratitude to the club leadership.

“I am honoured to join Yobe Desert Stars at this important juncture of the season. Our focus is clear — to build a competitive side that reflects the club’s pride, passion, and the ambition of its loyal supporters,” he said.

With Bassey now at the helm of the technical team, Yobe Desert Stars are looking to translate fresh leadership into strong performances as they continue their push in the NNL.
