The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement has suspended its 2027 campaign activities for one week in honour of Nigerian military personnel who lost their lives in an aircraft crash.
The movement’s National Coordinator, Comrade Sunday Asuku, announced the suspension in a statement on Tuesday, saying the decision was taken by the group’s Grand Patron, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.
Tompolo described the crash as a “painful and monumental loss” to the Nigerian Armed Forces and the country, commending the deceased personnel for making the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation.
He extended his condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Armed Forces, the government and people of Ondo State, as well as the families, friends and colleagues of the victims.
The PBAT Door-to-Door Movement also commended personnel of the Nigerian Air Force and Nigerian Navy, first responders and local residents who took part in the search and rescue operation following the crash.
The group said the sacrifice of military personnel who risk their lives to defend and protect the country must not be forgotten.
It also called for a thorough and transparent investigation into the cause of the crash, stressing that the findings should help establish what went wrong and prevent similar incidents in the future.
The movement said all campaign activities would remain suspended for one week as a mark of respect for the fallen military personnel and their families.
