Ahead of the 2026 Area Council elections, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has called for peaceful conduct and stronger collaboration between residents and security agencies.

According to a statement by the command public relations officer, Josephine Adeh, the CP stressed that effective policing depends on community participation.

Dantawaye made the appeal on Wednesday, during an extensive community engagement tour across Mabushi, Life Camp, Katampe, and the Kubwa/Bwari axis of the Federal Capital Territory.

“Elections are a democratic process, and peace must be our guiding principle. We call on all stakeholders to work together, advise their youths, and support the police to ensure a peaceful and orderly electoral process,” he said.

The engagement sessions, which held in Mabushi and Bwari, brought together Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, traditional rulers, community leaders, youth representatives, and members of commercial tricycle and motorcycle associations, among other key stakeholders.

The Commissioner emphasized that inclusive policing remains central to the Command’s strategy, noting that security challenges can only be tackled through mutual trust, timely information sharing, and active community involvement.

Participants at the forum openly shared concerns and observations on security issues affecting their communities, ranging from neighbourhood safety to coordination during election activities.

Dantawaye reaffirmed the Command’s readiness to maintain law and order before, during, and after the elections, assuring residents that all policing efforts will prioritize safety, professionalism, and conflict prevention.

The FCT Police Command said the engagement tour reflects its ongoing efforts to deepen community relations and strengthen operational preparedness ahead of the polls.
