President Bola Tinubu has appointed Disun Holloway as Chairman of Theatre Partners, the body tasked with running and reviving the iconic National Theatre, Lagos.
Holloway is a seasoned cultural advocate and former Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism and Intergovernmental Affairs, who brings decades of leadership in governance, arts, and the creative economy to the role.
He is known for championing initiatives that fuse cultural preservation with economic opportunity.
His appointment comes on the heels of a six-year, N68 billion transformation of the National Theatre into a world-class creative hub.
Originally slated for nine months, the renovation—led by the Bankers’ Committee and the Central Bank of Nigeria—faced delays due to its complex scope and the COVID-19 pandemic.
As Chairman, Holloway is expected to spearhead sustainable management strategies, collaborating with government agencies, the private sector, and industry creatives to position the Theatre as a thriving centre for performance, innovation, and economic growth.
This move signals a bold push in Nigeria’s cultural renaissance—and a firm belief in the creative sector as a catalyst for national development.
