President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Tokyo to participate in the ninth edition of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), a key global summit aimed at deepening Africa–Asia partnerships.
According to Presidential spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu touched down in Tokyo early Tuesday (local time) and was warmly received at the Presidential Wing of Haneda International Airport by Ambassador Hideo Matsubara, who oversees TICAD operations at the airport.
The Nigerian leader is set to join other African heads of state, development partners, and global stakeholders at the three-day high-level forum scheduled for August 20–22 at Pacifico Yokohama.
The conference provides President Tinubu with a strategic opportunity to attract Asian investors to Nigeria, foster stronger diplomatic ties, and engage in discussions on economic growth, trade, and sustainable development across Africa.
The Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD), launched in 1993 by the Government of Japan, is one of the most influential platforms for promoting African development through international collaboration, private sector investment, and policy dialogue.
