The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Director General of the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Comrade Issa Aremu, on his well-deserved re-appointment for a second term.
In a statement issued by the Media Adviser to the Director General, NILDS Mohammad Abdulkadri, Professor Sulaiman commends Comrade Aremu’s exceptional leadership and achievements, which have significantly elevated MINILS to national and international prominence.
Professor Sulaiman stated that Comrade Aremu’s re-appointment as Director General of MINILS is a testament to his outstanding achievements that have placed the Institute in the national and international limelight.
His transformative leadership has driven inclusive training, promoted gender balance, strengthened institutional partnerships, and expanded entrepreneurship programmes.
The NILDS DG further encouraged Comrade Aremu to sustain his remarkable progress in areas such as digital literacy training and infrastructural renewal, notably the establishment of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre in 2022.
He also urged him to consolidate his efforts in impactful citizenship engagement, having surpassed the Ministerial deliverables benchmark by training over 3,000 participants at the Ilorin campus in 2024, up from 1,250 in the previous year.
Professor Sulaiman emphasized the need to build on the successful training of 720 youths in cinematography, carpentry, tie and dye, other vocational skills and he also called on him to prioritize staff welfare as a cornerstone of the institute’s continued repositioning journey.
