Prof. Sulaiman Reaffirms NILDS’ Commitment to Strengthening Legislative Capacity in Nigeria and Beyond in New Year Message

As Nigeria joins the global community in celebrating the New Year, Director General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman, has reaffirmed the Institute’s commitment to prioritizing capacity building for Nigerian lawmakers and those in the sub-region in 2025.

Prof. Sulaiman emphasized that a key mandate of NILDS is to enhance the proficiency of legislators in fostering and consolidating democratic governance through effective deliberation and policy-making.

According to him, “We remain dedicated to providing legislators and legislative staff with structured opportunities for problem-solving studies and systematic training in various aspects of legislative institutions, processes, and procedures. Our goal is to continually enhance their capacity to sustain and advance democratic governance through informed decision-making and effective policy formulation.”

The Director General also commended Nigerians for their resilience, steadfast commitment to national unity, and unwavering support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Furthermore, he urged all citizens to remain united and determined, assuring them that the challenges confronting the nation can and will be overcome through collective effort and resolve.
