The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, has praised the exceptional performance of public secondary school students in Kwara State in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

In a statement released Thursday, by his media aide, Mohammad Abdulkadri, Professor Sulaiman describes the students’ success as inspiring, particularly singling out pupils from Ansarul Islam Secondary School and the University of Ilorin Secondary School in Ilorin.

Among the top performers, Issa Abdulwaris Atere of Ansarul Islam Secondary School scored an impressive 346, followed closely by his classmate Onagu Akeem Ahmad, who achieved 322. Their accomplishments come despite widespread technical issues that marred this year’s UTME nationwide.

Also earning commendation was Garba Mubarak Bukola of the University of Ilorin Secondary School, who scored a remarkable 362. Professor Sulaiman hailed the result as a record-breaking feat that reflects great pride on Ilorin West Local Government Area, particularly Ogidi Ward and the entire state.

The former Minister of National Planning said the students’ achievements underscore the rising academic standards in Kwara’s public schools, a development he attributed to the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON.

Professor Sulaiman urged the high-fliers to sustain their academic momentum as they transition to higher education, and encouraged those affected by technical hitches not to lose hope, assuring them that alternative academic opportunities still abound.
